Why Keeping Pills in the North Zone “Grows” Your Illness
I walked into a client’s home last month—let’s call him Mr. Verma.
Mr. Verma is a successful stock trader. He understands trends, he understands growth, and he understands risk. But for the last three years, his family had been trapped in a strange loop of sickness.
First, it was his mother’s knee pain. Then, his wife developed thyroid issues. Then, his son got chronic allergies. It felt like every time one person recovered, another fell sick.
“Jagdish ji,” he told me, looking exhausted. “I am earning well, but 20% of my income is going straight to the pharmacy. What is wrong with my house?”
I opened his Vastu chart. I pulled out my compass. And then I walked straight to his North Zone.
The North is the most powerful direction in Vastu. It is the zone of Lord Kuber. It is the zone of Growth, Multiplication, and Flow.
And there, right on a beautiful shelf in the North, sat a massive, overflowing plastic box.
Inside were cough syrups, antibiotics, insulin pens, painkillers, and vitamins.
“Mr. Verma,” I said. “You have planted the seeds of illness in the soil of growth. You are asking the universe to multiply your medicine intake.”
This is the most common mistake I see in Indian households. We treat medicine casually. We keep it wherever it’s convenient—on the dining table, in the kitchen, or on the bedside table.
But in Vastu Shastra, Placement is Prescription.
If you put your medicines in the wrong zone, you aren’t just taking a pill; you are inviting the illness to stay permanently.

Why the North is Dangerous for Pills
Let me explain this with a banking analogy.
Imagine you have a “High-Interest Savings Account” that doubles whatever money you put into it.
- If you put Cash in it, you get more Cash. (Good).
- If you put a Debt Bill in it, you get more Debt. (Disaster).
The North Zone is that Savings Account.
Its intrinsic nature is to Grow. It nurtures. It expands.
When you keep your Medicine Box in the North (or North-East):
- The Illness Multiplies: Small issues become chronic. A simple cough turns into bronchitis.
- Dependency Increases: You stop healing naturally. You start feeling like you need the pill to survive.
- Financial Leakage: Since North controls Wealth, mixing “Health Expenses” here means your wealth gets drained by doctors and hospitals.
The Rule: never keep anything in the North that you want to reduce. You want to reduce illness. So, get it out of the North.
Where Should You Keep It?
If North is for keeping things you love, where do you put things you want to get rid of?
You want the illness to leave your body. You want the medicine to do its job and then get out.
In Vastu, there is a specific zone for “Letting Go.”
It is called the South-South-West (SSW).
Why SSW Works:
The South-South-West is the zone of Disposal. It is where we ideally place the toilet or the dustbin.
When you place your medicine box here:
- The energy of the zone acts like a flush. It extracts the healing property from the medicine quickly and then pushes the illness out of your system.
- You don’t become addicted to the meds. You take them for 3 days, you get better, and you stop.
How to find it:
Stand in the center of your house with a compass. Find South. Find South-West. The narrow slice between them is the SSW.
- Tip: If you can’t place a shelf there, just hang a small bag or pouch on the wall in this zone and keep your daily meds in it.

Maybe you don’t have space in the SSW. I get it; apartments are small.

🛑 The Red Zones (Danger – Move Immediately)
- North-East (Ishanya):This is the God Corner. It is for clarity and prayer. If you keep medicines here, the “Head” of the Vastu Purush becomes heavy. This leads to Mental Stress about health. You will spend hours Googling your symptoms and terrifying yourself.
- South-East (Agni Kon):This is the Fire Zone. Medicines are chemical compounds.Fire + Chemicals = Side Effects. If you keep meds in the kitchen or South-East, you might notice that the medicines cause severe acidity, heat, or rashes. They work, but they damage something else in the process.
⚠️ The Yellow Zones (Proceed with Caution)
- North-West (Vayu/Air):Air moves. If you keep medicines here, the healing will be erratic. Sometimes the doctor is great, sometimes he is useless. Sometimes the pill works, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s unstable.
- South (Yama):The South provides relaxation. It’s okay for sleeping pills or sedatives, but for active healing (like antibiotics), it might make the process too slow.
🟢 The Green Zones (Safe)
- West (Varun):The West represents “Gains.” If you cannot find the SSW spot, the West is the next best place. It ensures you “Gain Health” from the medicine. It is excellent for supplements and gym proteins.
- South-South-West (The Gold Standard):As discussed, this is the best spot for curing illness permanently.
Why You Wake Up Tired
We all do this. We keep a glass of water and our strip of pills on the bedside table.
“It’s just so I remember to take them,” you say.
Psychological Vastu:
Your bedroom is your sanctuary. It is where your subconscious mind is most open.
If the first thing your eyes see when you wake up is a strip of tablets, what message are you sending to your brain?
“I am sick. I am a patient. I need help.”
You are starting your day with a vibration of illness.
The Fix: Keep the medicines inside the drawer. Do not leave them on top of the table. Let your eyes see a photo of your family, a flower, or just a clean surface.
The “Expired Energy” Problem
As a banker, I tell people to clean up their “Bad Debts.”
As a Vastu consultant, I tell you to clean up your Expired Medicines.
I challenge you to go open your medicine box right now. I guarantee you will find a strip of fever pills that expired in 2023 or a half-empty syrup bottle that has turned sticky.
Dead Medicine = Dead Energy.
Holding onto expired medicine is a subconscious signal that says, “I might get sick again, so I better keep this trash.”
It blocks fresh energy from entering your home.
The Ritual:
Once a month, on a Saturday (Saturn’s day, good for cleaning), dump everything that is expired. Crush the bottles so they can’t be reused, and throw them out.
A Simple 3-Step Detox
You don’t need to demolish walls to fix your health. You just need to respect the energy of the objects in your home.
Here is your homework for today:
- The Audit: Go find every pill, syrup, and ointment scattered around your house. Bring them all to one table.
- The Purge: Throw away anything expired, broken, or that belongs to an illness you cured years ago.
- The Relocation: Move the active medicines to the South-South-West zone. If you can’t find that spot, move them to the West.
Get them out of the North. Stop “investing” in your illness. Start investing in your health.
Is chronic illness persisting despite all medical efforts?
Sometimes the issue is deeper—a toilet in the North-East or a severe imbalance in the Earth element. [Book a Personal Chart Analysis] with me, and let’s diagnose the root cause of the energy block in your home.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Where should I keep my Protein Powder and Gym Supplements?
Supplements are not “medicine” for illness; they are “food” for building strength. Do not keep them in the South-South-West (Disposal zone), or you will lose muscle mass! The best place for supplements is the South (for Strength) or the East (for Health/Vitality).
Can I keep medicines in the Kitchen?
No. The kitchen is the high-energy zone of Fire. Keeping medicines there heats up their energy, leading to acidity and side effects. Also, the fluctuating temperatures and humidity in a kitchen can chemically degrade the medicine.
My elderly parents can’t walk to the SSW zone every time. What do I do?
Practicality comes first. For elderly people who need emergency access, keep a small daily dose on their bedside table (inside a drawer). Keep the bulk stock (the monthly supply) in the correct Vastu zone (SSW or West).
Is it okay to keep a First Aid Box in the car?
Yes, absolutely. A car is a moving object, so Vastu zones don’t apply statically. However, ensure you clean it regularly and replace items that might get damaged by the car’s heat.
What if my bathroom is in the South-South-West? Can I keep meds there?
While SSW is the right zone, a bathroom is a place of impurities. Never store medicines inside the bathroom cabinet. The humidity destroys the pills, and the “drain” energy is too strong. Place them on a shelf on the wall outside the bathroom in the SSW zone.
